Position Summary
The Housekeeping & Maintenance Personnel role keeps Alliance Residences clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, families, and staff. This hybrid position handles daily housekeeping and laundry as well as routine preventative maintenance, light repairs, and room turnovers. It’s a great fit for someone who takes pride in their work, notices details, and enjoys working in a community where what you do directly improves people’s lives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Housekeeping and Sanitation
- Perform daily cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, dining rooms, offices, and entryways using EPA-approved disinfectants.
- Follow infection-control standards and facility cleaning schedules at all times.
- Restock supplies (paper products, soap, sanitizer, etc.) throughout the building.
- Manage trash, recycling, and biohazard waste per facility and OSHA protocols.
Laundry
- Wash, dry, fold, and deliver resident personal laundry and facility linens per schedule.
- Track and return personal items carefully to maintain resident dignity.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Complete work orders for minor repairs (plumbing, electrical fixtures, paint touch-up, drywall, doors, hardware, appliances).
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance audits on HVAC, plumbing, appliances, and life safety equipment.
- Monitor and document hot water temperatures, refrigerator/freezer temperatures, and other regulatory checks.
- Coordinate outside vendor visits and oversee work when on site.
Safety and Compliance
- Maintain clear egress pathways and ensure fire and life safety systems are inspected and functional.
- Support emergency preparedness drills and respond to facility emergencies (water, power, weather) as directed.
- Maintain MDH physical plant safety standards.
Room Turnover and Grounds
- Complete deep cleans and rapid turnover of vacant rooms to prepare for new residents.
- Maintain exterior grounds, entryways, and parking areas as needed, including snow and ice management.
Required Qualifications
- Prior housekeeping, janitorial, or maintenance experience (assisted living, hotel, healthcare, or commercial setting preferred).
- Basic working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Comfort using basic hand and power tools and reading work orders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and follow through.
- Ability to pass a Minnesota DHS background study.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Minnesota 144G-licensed assisted living, skilled nursing, or healthcare environment.
- HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building maintenance certifications or coursework.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work-order software.
Required Training
- Vulnerable Adults Act maltreatment reporting training.
- OSHA safety training, including blood-borne pathogens, hazard communication / SDS, and biohazard disposal.
- Facility emergency preparedness plan training.
- MDH 144G orientation appropriate to the role.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (approximately 22 kg), push/pull housekeeping carts, and move furniture as needed.
- Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment, ladders, and basic power tools safely.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in environments with cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures, and occasional outdoor conditions.
Schedule
Alliance Residences offers full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities across day, evening, and overnight (NOC) shifts, including weekends and holidays. Specific shift availability and scheduling expectations will be reviewed during the interview process.
